Veolia Transport Australasia (VTA) (formerly Connex Group Australia*) was established in 1997, and since then has secured transport operations encompassing buses, light rail, trains and monorail in Australia and New Zealand, with further plans for development.
The company is responsible for more than 230 million passenger journeys per annum served by approximately 4,100 employees, using more than 1,100 vehicles. VTA's expansion is based on its expertise, decentralised organisation, aggressive commercial capacity and a long-lasting relationship and mutual trust with local authorities. The turnover for VTA's businesses in 2007 was approximately $823 million.
Veolia Transport works in partnership with local governments, authorities and private companies to deliver high quality transport services to communities in Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, the South West region of Western Australia, Brisbane, and Auckland.

MELBOURNE
In a contract awarded by the Victorian Government in 2004, Connex Melbourne operates the 15-line Melbourne metropolitan train network. Connex has been a key player in Melbourne's rail operations since 1999 when it won a contract to operate six lines in Melbourne's eastern and north-eastern suburbs. Each week in Melbourne more than 3.6 million passenger journeys are made on more than 12,300 services operated across the entire system. The network is of a radial nature with lines converging on the central business district. Services operate from early morning until after midnight. More than 3,000 staff work in the Melbourne train network.

SYDNEY
Veolia Transport Sydney is contracted to Metro Transport Sydney to operate the city's light rail and monorail systems. The light rail line extends from Central Railway Station to Darling Harbour and Star City Casino, before travelling to inner western suburbs. The Monorail runs aboveground in the heart of the city of Sydney. Veolia Transport also operates an extensive bus network centred on Sydney's southern, south western and western suburbs, with 50 routes (almost 15,000 services per week) and special services to primary and secondary schools in the district. More than 18 million passengers use Veolia Transport's services in Sydney each year and they are served by more than 650 staff.

PERTH
Veolia Transport Perth, operating as Southern Coast Transit (SCT), is one of Perth's biggest bus companies. SCT operates in the Fremantle, Rockingham and Mandurah regions to the south of Perth. It also operates the popular free CAT services in Perth's CBD. It has more than 590 staff, 325 buses, operates more than 20 million route kms and carries more than 17 million passengers.

SOUTH WEST REGION OF WESTERN AUSTRALIA
Veolia Transport WA, operating as South West Coach Lines (SWCL), provides fixed route and school services for the cities of Bunbury (Bunbury City Transit) and Busselton (Busselton Regional Town Bus Service) via contracts with the Public Transport Authority of Western Australia, until June 2012 and December 2015 respectively.
The business also has charter activities, and operates regional coach lines linking Perth and Mandurah with many towns of the South West region including: Bunbury, Busselton, Augusta, Dunsborough, Manjimup, Collie and Nannup.
SWCL has 71 vehicles, running 3.3 million kilometres per annum, served by 100 staff.

BRISBANE
Veolia Transport Brisbane operates route, school and charter bus services in the Cleveland-Redland Bay area, south-east of Brisbane, under contract to Translink (Queensland Government). The company has 180 staff, 128 buses, operates 5.3 million route kms and carries more than 2.2 million passengers.

AUCKLAND
Veolia Transport Auckland operates the commuter rail service in partnership with the Auckland Regional Transport Authority and both are committed to increasing and enhancing passenger rail services in the Auckland region. The Auckland train network carries more than 5.7 million passengers per annum, serviced by more than 260 staff.
